A day off. Let's go to the music store!

A nice, sunny and somewhat cold day. Where else to spend it but at a local music store. The spot? Music Trader here in Winnipeg. It's a great store in Osborne Village, and has been a great source for most of my collection in the past 10+ years. I usually visit Music Trader on my days off. Here's a tour and my finds.

It's really easy getting to Music Trader by bus. In fact 3 or 4 routes go through the Village everyday. This is the entrance. Notice the sign? "You Deserve Better Than An MP3." This statement is very true, and it makes me excited every time I see it.

Inside...

Entering the store, you will be overwhelmed with the amount of CD's they have. Also, a small but respectable Vinyl section. Music Trader has something for everyone. From Hardcore, Punk, Obscuro to even Rockabilly. Being a Hip-Hop head, Music Trader has a good source of underground hip hop that can't be found in retail stores like HMV.

Today's finds

Xzibit - 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz
His second solo set released in 1998 after his critically acclaimed debut At The Speed Of Life. This completes my 90's collection of Xzibit albums.

Nas - If I Ruled The World (CD Single)
This song is classic, nuff said. Nas and Lauryn Hill on the hook. The CD Single has the instrumental included.

Junior M.A.F.I.A - Gettin' Money (The Get Money Remix) (CD Single)
The Notorious B.I.G.'s crew, another 90's classic track. Comes with the instrumental!

Slaughterhouse - Slaughterhouse
I was waiting for someone to slip and get rid of this so I could get it used. There's nothing much to say about this group. But it's straight heat! For those who do not know who Slaughterhouse is.. Slaughterhouse is a hip-hop super group consisting of Royce Da 5'9, Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden. It can't get any better! This is their debut album released independently. They are now signed with Shady Records a new album is expected this year.

Slaughterhouse - Slaughterhouse EP
For contractual obligations with their old record company, this was released before they got signed by Shady Records. Slaughterhouse!

Today was a great day! I love this store. =)

My Top 3 Loved Worn Nike Dunks

In honour of this past Lover's day, I have 3 of my most loved, worn (not new) Nike Dunks from my collection. Brand new, these kicks can be worth b/w $250 - $350, mainly because they are sold out, and only available through Nike Select SB dealers in the first place. If you see these at the thrift store, pick them up, I've read of kids finding Dunk SBs and even early JORDANS and selling them to Japan for hundreds... Not bad for $10 investments.... So gather round as we discuss more shoes... and hopefully you can become a little smarter "thrifter." (also check out my previous Dunk Post - Avengers )
