For Sale: Rarest Atari Game Found in Storage?

Air Raid Complete in box. $30000? It's possible! Imagine your parents are sitting on a holy grail of videos in storage for years and didn't even know it. That's what happened to one US family who decided to put it up for auction. The rare game "Air Raid" for the Atari 2600 was recently put up for auction on the popular video game auction website Game Gravel. Only 12 copies are known to exist, and they're all in collector's hands. This specific copy is Complete in a pristine box with the ONLY KNOWN MANUAL in existance. Since the first boxed copy of the game sold for $30000+ dollars, this one is expected to break that record. Only time can tell, we'll check back in a few days after this auction is completed. (as of today, it's over $15000 w/ 8 days to go!) Source: www.retrocollect.com

Planet of the Apes -"Give it a chance people!"

Planet of the Apes $7.99 (Salvation Army Thrift Store) After finishing watching a recent thrift store find of the Planet of the Apes (POTA) Complete Series, I find myself “urning for more”. Based   on the multiple movies of the same name, POTA only   aired September 13 1974 to December 20, 1974 on CBS, spanning a mere 14 episodes. Much like Star Trek the Original Series, I feel like the series was cancelled prematurely, and I find myself wondering “what could have been?”

Back in the Day... "So Ghetto!"

Now that the Youtube Channel is nearing 600, I wanted to look back at the days when we were excited and honored that 50 people subscribed to us. When we began "Thriftdwellers", we had no idea what we were doing or getting into... and the first videos refected that. In retrospect, two friends have forged a stronger bond and this "channel" has forced us to go out and do stuff. Regardless of what happens in the future, this has been a great ride. Right now, we just want to keep pushing the quality of our videos, help build the online music community and represent the Thrift Dwellers just like us. It's always fun to look back and see where we came from. So please enjoy our Video Special: 50 Subscription Project. Originally released early 2012. Thank you for reading and supporting the videos. -The Thriftdwellers

The Next (and Last?) Monday Nitro Pickups

I Explain in this weeks Monday Nitro Pickups 17, this may be one of the few remaining video game pick ups. I also show the CHEAP NINTENDO FAMICOM that I found in Flea Market. It was an outstanding price and I was very happy to find it. My friend Phil was recently in the Phillipinese and he couldn't even find one there. =) Check it out! Thank you for watching. Check us out on Facebook! -Happy Thrifting

Top 10 Video Game Finds 2012

As a "Thank You" to our YouTube community for helping us reach over 500 subscribers, we made a special compilation video featuring our Top 10 Video Game related finds. Some are worth a lot more than we paid for them, but the criteria was items that meant the MOST to us, not necessarly monitary gain. This vid features many clips from our old videos as well, and took a lot longer to finish to orignally thought. Check it out. Featuring: Playstation Cabinet, X-Men, Mario and MORE! Thank you for watching. We'ld love to hear from you, drop us a comment or a message on youtube! Video Includes: Playstation Cabinet, Dragon Fighter NES, TurboGrafx 16, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Retro Nintendo NES sign... which one top the list? -Happy Thirfting!

Best Video Game Pick Ups (thus far!)

A bag of happiness, we present some of our most popular finds. A decade of Thrift Dwelling has brought us countless stuff, but there are a few that stand out more than others. We've been exploring Winnipeg's Thrift Stores and other second hand spots for a few years, and have picked up some sweet stuff. At the risk for tipping off the Thrift Stores to raise their prices, we present our BEST video game pick ups from the Thrift Store! Factory Sealed Games, $.99 Masterpiece and happiness in a bag. Check it out!

Fireflight - It isn't hip-hop...

Something different for all the thriftdwellers out there. Having an open ear for music, we introduce to you Fireflight. A Christian rock band. On March 6, they released their anticipated album Now. We will go over their studio discography including the new album.

Game Boy Color = Best Leap Day Ever!

It's what's cookin' for dinner! This was a nice way to end Leap Day Feb 29 2012. A "last of the month" trip to the thrift uncovered a SWEET Game Boy Color in box. Finally, something to play my SEALED Super Mario World 2 I found last year (too bad I will never open it!). Little did I know it wouldn't end there, as I found 2 more games hidden inside...

De La Soul is... Missing?

Could it be? A golden ticket of some sort? Nope. It's De La Soul Is Dead. From the recent thrift store exodus yesterday . NC was lucky enough (or shall we say gifted enough?) to find this bad boy in a pile of DVD's. What is it? De La Soul Is Dead - Promotional Copy ! As the music guy and hip-hop head for the blog I had no idea this existed... until now.

50% off Day Value Village... I'm running out of clothes.

Hey LP, which way to the Thrift Store? Prarie Inn Jacket - $4 Beautiful sunny day and 50% off day at the Thrift... We were up at 7am to check out the racks and find some sweet threads and other hidden treasures.

Namco Arcade Joystick - The Original

The original Sony PlayStation was a great system. In fact, probably the best system with almost arcade perfect ports of fighting games. Today we will look at the first official joystick released the Namco Arcade Joystick .

Manitotba Comic Exchange 2012

Winnipeg's comic book fans gathered Sunday for Manitoba Comic Exchange (MCE), a fun day of local dealers and closet collectors coming out to pimp out their wares, amongst the mass of stuff that is Thirsty's Flea Market. Comics, Video Games, Collectables... yes we were there!

The Collector Strikes

We just started a section call " Recent Pickups ", which we will be updating regularly when we buy stuff.  N8 is Retro Video Game guy (nintendo, sega and playstation) and LP is the music man who collects CDs.  Originally, we started this blog to talk about the items we buy from Winnipeg's second hand spots, like Thrift Stores and Pawn Shops. We call this Winnipeg's "discarded subculture", our city`s micro history on what was prevalent at the time. They say you can tell a lot about a city by the way they entertain themselves... but what can you tell about the things they throw away? (Man, VHS was big back then!) Sometimes we find treasures, sometimes just empty promises... Visit  Recent Pick Ups  <<<

My Master Bedroom - Thrift Designers Inc?

I call my room "thrift designed".  Everything in our room was either on sale, found or made by my wife and I (LP helped too, thanks bud).   I made our head board out of an old door, I hung an old city hall ceiling tile on the wall and made my own art. Originally, it was my sister who inspired me to fix up our old room, she's talented at making things beautiful...

Sexy Finds at the Thrift Store - Clothing Swag

My wife looks a lot hotter modelling my clothes than I do, so that's what I did.  Thrift Stores are an awesome place to get "new" clothes, or as  theICEMAN289  would say, "swag".  To us, the hunt is to find good condition, old school swag, (i.e. Starter, Raiders or Chicago Bulls gear.) that's how you "keep it real!" Enjoy the latest pick ups. -thrift dweller picture blog.

1980's Nintendo Sign for Auction - Winnipeg MB

I helped Mario save Princess in 1992, but could I save Nintendo in 2012? Febuary 7 was another winnipeg auction in the books. We spent the night watching Big Daddy Taz (comedian) dominate the crowd, but our mission was one of one of stealth. A sexy 1980's Nintendo sign was up for auction, the Thrift Dwellers did their best to save it from anyone who tried to defile her... We also tried to save the Ghostbuster's power pack, ET and Comic Books... were we successful?

Video Game Collection 2 - I Think I Got a Problem

Literally, I'm capturing my child hood in a cardboard box labeled Nintendo...Thrift Dwelling has allowed me the opportunity to own many consoles previously out of my reach. Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, X-Box... Even Sega Master and Atari systems. I can't fit all of them in this picture...My wife says I got too many. It was difficult for me to sell off some of my systems, that's when I first thought I had a problem. So, in that spirit, continuing my video game collection  review, I took out most my consoles and boxes for you... so enjoy

Thrift Store Kicks - Return of the Shoe Monster.

posted by thrift dweller NC, LP Bullit? Blue/Orange - Size 9 - $7.99 S.Army McPhillips Nike Air Max Silve/Blue Size 8- $7.99 S.Army McPhillips The wicked step sister cut her heels off to fit those glass slippers (see. Some cleaning required, but we love it grimy, Shout out to Iceman 289, found him randomly, this kid got us shopping for swag aside from usual pick-ups.
