PSVita at EB Games Polo Park - First Impressions

PSVita Demo Selection Screen
A trip to the mall for some Starbucks coffee lead me to EBGames at Polo Park. To my surprise there was a PSVita hardware demo/kiosk. With it's release imminent on the 22nd. There are a few lucky people who've already pre-ordered and got theirs early. Some will have to wait until the official release day.

Hot Shots Golf World Invitational DEMO
Initial thoughts, this thing is LIGHT! Lighter than the original PSP. The buttons on the PSVita are a bit smaller than it's older brother, but feel just right! D-Pad is very responsive and the dual analog joysticks feel like joysticks and not a slider. I take it that Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 will play wonderfully on this. Sound wise, Sony did the right thing and made the speakers worth listening to. It's louder than the original, in fact there were people inside the store talking loudly I could still hear my game. The touch screen is responsive as well. Speaking of the screen, it's no joke. Large and beautiful, the AMOLED screen is a straight eye-gasm (can anyone say correct colors?). Playing the Hot Shots Golf demo was amazing, felt like I was playing a PS3 in my hands.

Is this a buy? I say so, after owning the original PSP and selling it to NC for $40. I don't think I'd sell this puppy away. Remember, you will have to purchase a memory card for it as well and a screen protector. After the games you will probably set yourself back $400.

Happy Thrifting!

Nintendo Wii Motion Plus for $3.99 found at Value Village. I don't know if it was a screw up from an employee as the Motion Plus attachment was in the rubber sleeve. It may have been overlooked when they put it out on the floor. Nintendo did release Motion Plus controllers, only time will tell if the attachments are sought out for in the future.
